Day Six: Psalm 130:1-2

Read

Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD!
O Lord, hear my voice!
Let your ears be attentive
to the voice of my pleas for mercy!

Listen/Sing

Meditate

Not only does the psalmist pray out loud to God, but they also do so repeatedly! The psalmist says “…listen to my pleas (plural) for mercy.” If you’re familiar at all with Jesus’ parable of the persistent widow (Luke 18:1-8), here in Psalm 130 we have an example of persistent prayer. Prayer isn’t meant to be a single activity, a “one and done.” Rather, we are taught to come to God again and again, holding our hearts and requests before Him honestly. Where have you thrown in the towel in prayer? Where might there be an invitation to pick something up that you have set down and pray it out to God again?
