Psalm 103:17-19 Now Available feat. Jason Polley

Psalm 103:17-19 is now available on all streaming platforms!

THE VERSE

[17] But the steadfast love of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children’s children,

[18] to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments.

[19] The LORD has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all. (ESV)

We just dropped the final song we needed to complete all of Psalm 103! The verses just before this in Psalm 103:15-16 talk about humanity’s transience, likening our days to grass and flowers that are beautiful yet brief.

The “but” of verse 17 steps in to interrupt our transience with something permanent and everlasting. What is it? God’s love. We’re told that His steadfast love is from everlasting to everlasting. It’s from everlasting, meaning His love existed far before the world was and it’s to everlasting, meaning that it will go on forever and ever. Think about this: The universe will never know a love-less God! It’s an amazing truth to dwell on. His love and righteousness are poured out on and revealed to His people, those who love and follow Him! It’s to be handed down and given away generation after generation.

We’re told in verse 19 that this loving God is also a ruling King! He’s established His throne in the heavens. He’s not like the earthly kings who rule but whose thrones are overturned! His heavenly Kingdom rules over all earthly kingdoms.

This is the God we come to! A loving and righteous God; a ruling and established King. He is both in equal parts, and we can come before Him with confidence knowing He loves us while also knowing He rules over us…

The Song + The Artist

This song was written by Jason Polley and Daniel Craig, and co-produced by Jason Polley and Sean Kenney. Engineered and mixed by Sean Kenney. Mastered by Dan Shike at Tone and Volume Mastering.

Group vocals by Caroline Mowery, Ethan Mowery, Jacob Beller, Miracle Mayes, Gigi Schraeder, Kyle Crouse, Kelly White, Helen Cave, Sean Kenney, and Amy Myers.

We asked Jason to share a little bit with us about the verse and the process:

It was a timely gift to add melody to those verses, I think God was inviting me to hold onto them as a promise. When we started tracking the song, God kept prompting me to sing the words over my family. It felt even more special to track those chorus group vocals at the end with some close friends that we’re walking through life with.
