Day Twenty Six: Psalm 130:1-8
Read
A Song of Ascents.
Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD!
O Lord, hear my voice!
Let your ears be attentive
to the voice of my pleas for mercy!
If you, O LORD, should mark iniquities,
O Lord, who could stand?
But with you there is forgiveness,
that you may be feared.
I wait for the LORD, my soul waits,
and in his word I hope;
my soul waits for the Lord
more than watchmen for the morning,
more than watchmen for the morning.
O Israel, hope in the LORD!
For with the LORD there is steadfast love,
and with him is plentiful redemption.
And he will redeem Israel
from all his iniquities.

We’ve arrived. The last day of our 26-day journey through Psalm 130! Take time to read over the entirety of Psalm 130. Follow the psalmist’s journey which began in the depths, discouraged and alone. He lifted his eyes and moved toward God in prayer and honest supplication. Crying out to God, he found his heart opening to Him, and the psalm ends with a public invitation to all around him to join in the hope and trust in this God of steadfast love and plentiful redemption. Try writing the whole of it down in your journal or saying it out loud a few times. What stands out? Where did God meet you this season of Advent and in the season of Christmastide? Thank Him for His presence with you now. For being Emmanuel, the God who is fully and forever present and with us.
